The golden rules of l'Ile en vert

This house is "green" by essence. Remote in this little paradise witness of so many past centuries, it is dwelled in by the respect of land and environment.
You are invited to make the most of this land that stretches away on an hectar below, and to sling an hammock where you will think fit.
L’Ile en vert is equipped of a sceptic tank that requires to use environment-friendly house care products (never use bleach), and not to throw away in the toilet female hygien products.
We also dedicated a specfic place for the compost. It is at the foot of an old peach tree that you will find along a row of prickly pears at the entrance, near the hanging up. Needless to say that we encourage you to feed this rudimentary compost pile with all your organic waste during your stay.

A rare commodity
Water is rare in this region, and we have it brought by lorry to feed the tank. Please do not waste it and limit your potential use of the washing-machine to the case of real need.
It is also recommended not to drink it. You will find some mineral water bottles in advance when you arrive. We will appreciate if you reconstitute this stock before you leave.

An electric wiring that requires to pay a specific attention
The house is new, and, temporarily, for administrative reasons, it is equipped with a temporary electric meter. This electric meter is not located in the house but in the nearby olive grove and is difficult of access. What's more the Italian electric network supplies a relatively low power to home electric wirings that consequently easily trip out. The available power of l’Ile en vert is limited to 6KW.
Therefore it is imperative not to run the risk of tripping out the house electric wiring. All you will have to do to this end is to ban the simultaneous use of two household appliances among the dish-washer, the oven and the washing-machine. Use them one at a time, and everything will be all right.
Similarly, although the house is equipped of reversible air conditioning, we cannot allow their use for the time being. The house is however designed to be naturally temperated, provided that in case of heatwave the shutters are kept closed when the outside temperature is the highest, and thanks to draughts made easier by the mosquito nets when it comes to be cooler.
